The General was a former sentinel program that acted as the commander of the machines in the War on Zion. After Agent Smith's defeat, and the establishment of the truce, the general refused to stop attacking, resulting in him and the sentinels which supported him becoming an exile.
Appearance[]
In the Real world he has the same appearance of a normal machine sentinel. In the Matrix, he takes the appearance of a military officer, while his sentinel cohorts appear as commandos.
